Located along the Treeline Avenue corridor, Marina Bay offers residents a combination of homes, amenities, and a convenient Fort Myers location. The gated community is known for its lakes, resort-style pool, clubhouse, and variety of activities—all within reach of shopping, dining, and Southwest Florida International Airport.
But Marina Bay is also part of a larger story: the continued growth of the Treeline corridor. As nearby commercial properties and public projects move forward, the area surrounding the community continues to evolve.
Here’s a closer look at Marina Bay’s history, what residents can enjoy nearby, and what’s planned in the surrounding area.
The History of Marina Bay
Marina Bay was developed by GL Homes, a Florida homebuilder known for creating communities with a focus on homes and lifestyle amenities.
The community began taking shape in the mid-2010s. A grand opening was planned for February 2015, introducing buyers to a selection of single-family homes and villas along Treeline Avenue. greaterftmyers.com
At the time, the Treeline corridor was becoming an increasingly attractive area for residential development. Its proximity to Daniels Parkway, Colonial Boulevard, I-75, and the airport helped connect residents to destinations throughout Southwest Florida.
As Marina Bay grew, homes were built around lakes and shared amenities, creating the established neighborhood residents know today.

What’s Being Built or Planned Near Marina Bay?
The Treeline corridor continues to attract investment as the surrounding area grows. These projects are in different stages, and plans, tenants, and timelines can change.
Arborwood Commons: Planned Commercial Space
Arborwood Commons is a retail center planned for the Daniels Parkway and Treeline Avenue corridor. In November 2025, GCG Construction announced it had been selected as the project’s general contractor.
The announcement described an approximately 15,335-square-foot center intended to include retail, office, and medical space, with Dunkin’ identified as an anchor. The announcement does not establish the center’s current opening status, so residents should watch for updates as the project progresses. Suite Life Magazine
Arbor Lin Plaza: Expanded Retail Space
Farther north, near Colonial Boulevard and Treeline Avenue, Arbor Lin Plaza has added commercial space. A leasing listing reported that Phase II was delivered in July 2026 and that space was being offered to prospective tenants.
That means the additional space has been delivered, but it does not necessarily mean every storefront is occupied or open. LoopNet
A Proposed Park and Preserve Along Treeline
Fort Myers has also been planning a 46-acre park and preserve on city-owned land along Treeline Avenue, north of Daniels Parkway. According to reporting from July 2026, the property includes a lake, wetlands, and upland preservation areas.
The project is planned, so its final features and opening timeline should be confirmed as the city releases updates. gulfshorebusiness.com
Treeline and Daniels Road Improvements
Lee County began work in 2026 on improvements around Treeline Avenue and Daniels Parkway, in the area from Jetport Loop to Heartwood Boulevard. The project was designed to improve the intersection and traffic movement.
