✅ Introduction & Origin Story
Can you share a bit about yourself and how Way Better Insurance came to be?
“I am proud to have been born and raised in SWFL and absolutely love it here. I have 2 kids in middle school and high school, and a Golden Retriever named Shanaynay. I started Way Better Insurance in 2017 after being an Allstate Agent for 9 years. I wanted to go independent to give my clients more options when it comes to their home and auto insurance to be able to always find them the best premium and coverage.”
✅ Early Influences & Career Path
What experiences or turning points in your life led you toward the insurance industry?
“Before I got into insurance I was a real estate appraiser and found that job to be a fun challenge and very rewarding. When the market crashed in 2006 we went from doing 250 appraisals a month to 5 and decided I needed to find another job to be able to support my family. A longtime friend and mortgage broker that was ordering appraisals from us found himself in the same situation and decided to open up an Allstate agency. We took off not knowing what we were doing but quickly learned and became one of the fastest growing Allstate agents in Florida.”
Were there any mentors or moments that shaped your approach to business?
“Brian Culbertson with the Culbertson agency really helped me learn what it took to run a successful insurance agency. His approach to marketing and being a service oriented agency guided me to build that same approach at Way Better Insurance.”

What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them?
“I think the biggest challenge I have had since opening Way better Insurance is finding the right team members that share the vision of the agency. The team we have currently is absolutely awesome, but it took some time to build this team and have learned from some past mistakes.”

Looking back, what achievements or moments stand out as defining successes for Way Better Insurance?
“The recognition from some of the top home insurance carriers in the State has shown us that what we are doing is unique. Top 50 agent with American Integrity several years in a row, top 100 agent with Tower Hill, and a 4.9 star Google rating from clients speaks volumes. There are thousands of agents in the state and having these recognition's shows what an awesome team we have built here.”

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone shopping for insurance for the first time?
“Call an independent agency like Way Better Insurance. We have over 30 carriers for home insurance and 8 carriers for auto insurance. We will always look at every carrier to find the best coverage/premium for you.”
What common mistakes do you see people make when it comes to choosing coverage?
“Going with the lowest price without asking the agent what are they missing. Knowing what you are purchasing and what the exclusions are makes a huge difference when it comes time to use the insurance.”

What’s your vision for Way Better Insurance in the next five to ten years?
“Continue to grow, providing white glove type service to our clients and finding the best options for their insurance needs.”

If you could go back to the day you started, what would you tell yourself?
“Keep grinding, learning, and provide great service and you will see the results. Starting scratch isn't easy and at times you think it won't come together as quickly as you thought, but just keep at it and doing the right thing you will get there.”
